Do they light up at your station, or are they just pretty for appearances?

All stations previous to the station you are going towards will be unlit. The upcoming station will blink. The terminus station will be lit in red. That could be anything from King George for Expo Line, VCC-Clark for the Millennium Line, Waterfront Station for both, or any other station in between if that's the terminus for that actual train. For example, in the morning rush hour, some trains return to Edmonds Station, so that will be in red. If there's problems on the track, then whatever SkyTrain decides is the terminus stations for that train will be in red.

Cool. Speaking of which, isn't this really a Mark III car -- the original Expo-era smaller ones are Mark I, the Millennium-line bigger ones are Mark II, and these are Mark III? Or is this just a refurb of the Mark II design?

TransLink's calling them Mark II, so who am I to disagree? If we were to apply Battlestar Galactica versioning, we could probably say they're Mark II.5 since they have enough identifiable differences, both in uniform and innards, to warrant a point release.

I see they're calling them 1300 and 1400 Series Mark II cars, though the difference b/w 1300 and 1400 needs to be pointed out to me.

As for the blinking station lights, it's like Christmas has come early!
